Summary: V. 1 - "In 1790 Western Massachusetts was a crossroads for New England families heading west into New York or north into Vermont. The transient nature of these families, especially during the post-Revolutionary War years, presents certain genealogical challenges. Western Massachusetts Families in 1790 contains fifty genealogical sketches of heads of households and a listing of their children living in what are today Berkshire, Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties. Contributed by NEHGS members, these sketches provide a major addition to the published research on this region.".
V. 2 - "In 1790 Western Massachusetts was a crossroads for New England families heading west into New York or north into Vermont. The transient nature of these families, especially during the post-Revolutionary War years, presents certain genealogical challenges. Building on the first volume of Western Massachusetts Families in 1790, published in 2012, this second volume contains seventy-five additional genealogical sketches of heads of households and a listing of their children living in what are today Berkshire, Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties. Contributed by NEHGS members and edited by expert genealogist Helen Schatvet Ullmann, CG, FASG, these sketches supplement other research on this region of New England.".
